Voice-output communication aid (VOCA) is one of the assistive devices supporting communication of children with speech development disorders. Our research group has been developing a web-based versatile communication support system, named VCAN. This VOCA has an advantage that supporters can edit user’s VOCA everywhere if they have a personal computer connected to the Internet. In order to cope with a wide variety of page design, however, its usability was still insufficient. In this study, we added two different functions of simultaneously making multiple pages with a hierarchal structure as well as finding an image or sound file to the system, in order to improve time-consuming hierarchal page-structure formation and file search. In addition, a page-name modification function was also added in order to meet supporter’s request. Usability of the improved system was evaluated by using Sytem Usability Scale and Adjective Rating Scale, employing 12 volunteers having an experience of editing VCAN. Consequently, the system was verified to be rated as “good” in terms of both evaluation scales. |
