Excitation method of mode-division multiplexed transmission in 4-wire STP cable using transformer

(in English) In a cable transmission system, we usually use differential mode applying opposit voltages to two wires. When we consider parallel differencial signaling, we have to take care of crosstalk between two differential transmission lines. Additionally only two channel signal can be sent in the 4-wire cable. A mode-division multiplex transmission system was proposed in contrast with the differential signaling. In this report, a circuit using transformers to excite eigenmodes of transmission line is discussed. As a result of comparison with the conventional differential transmission method, the proposed circuit eliminates the crosstalk and enables simulataneous usage of 4 signal wires although the transmission chaeacteristics are slightly degraded.
