A Proposal of Fast Night Vision Algorithm Suppressing Over Enhancement

(in English) The visibility of an image taken in very low light condition tends to be low. General methods for image enhancement such as gamma correction can't sufficiently enhance the image because the intensities of most pixels in such image are very low. There are many image enhancement algorithms for very low light image(night vision algorithm). However, these algorithms have some problems such as over enhancement and high computational cost. In this report, we propose a fast and effective night vision algorithm suppressing over enhancement. In the proposed method, an intensity transformation table made by histogram specification is used for contrast stretching. In addition, intensity adjustment process is introduced in order to suppress contrast decreasing in bright regions. The process is based on difference between each pixel's intensity and the local mean intensity around the pixel.
