We investigated structural and magnetization changes of nickel hydroxide nanosheets deposited on a Si substrate under vacuum annealing. X-ray absorption (XAS) spectra indicate that nickel hydroxide nanosheets are converted to metallic nickel nanoparticles by annealing at temperatures higher than 250OC. The nickel nanoparticles also exhibit ferromagnetic behaviors in X-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD) measurements. We found a dissociation of water molecule in a molecular dynamics simulation for reproducing the thermal structural change. |
