Suppression of Sidelobe Level over Specific Points in S-band Assuming International Satellite Operation

(in English) In order to operate a communication satellite, international frequency coordination with neighboring countries is required. In that coordination, satellite operators may have to mitigate the sidelobe gain over specific areas in neighboring countries to reduce the interference with them. In our study to realize this, we simulated the beamforming with directionally constrained minimization of power (DCMP) method, which can reduce the sidelobe gain by constraint conditions. We tried to examine how much the sidelobe gain over specific points of Japanese neighbors can be lowered. Some cities are selected as example points in this study. As a result, we succeeded in lowering the sidelobe gain over some cities to 13dBi and the difference of it and peak value of mainlobe is greater than 33dB. This would be enough low sidelobe gain to operate satellite without harmful interference level.
