Development of Ultra High Density Optical Cable using 200 μm fiber

(in English) The demand for optical fiber is expanding because expected the expansion of cloud services, 5G commercialization, the development of automated car driving services and increasing the capacity of communication networks.
In Japan, to reduce the construction cost and achieve large capacity, it is required a small-diameter, multi-core high-density optical cable designed to lay in the pipeline. The maximum number of optical fiber cores in Japan is 2000, so we tried to increase the density of optical fiber cable. we have successfully developed the 3000 optical cable using 200μm fiber which is complying with the same diameter of 2000 optical cable using 250μm fiber.
