[Poster Presentation] Measured Characteristics of Microstrip Comb-line Array Antenna for Arbitrary Linear Polarizations Using Rounded Radiating Elements in Millimeter-Wave Band

(in English) A microstrip antenna is fabricated by designing metal pattern on the substrate. Therefore, it is possible for microstrip antenna to realize various antenna characteristics by designing metal patterns. But microstrip antennas suffer from high feeding-loss. Therefore, a comb-line antenna with traveling-wave operation is applied. Antennas with 45-degree polarization have been developed for automotive radar systems. The polarization of the comb-line antenna can be controlled by changing the angle of the radiating elements. When using conventional rectangular radiating element structure, corner rounds are generated at the corners of the elements due to manufacturing error during etching. Therefore, to provide resonant frequency stability due to manufacturing errors and to realize an arbitrary linear polarization, we propose rounded radiating elements for comb-line antenna in this study. The performance of microstrip planar arrays with 30, 45, 60-degree linear polarization are evaluated in millimeter-wave band.
