[Poster Presentation] A Study on the Effectiveness of Misinformation Minimization Algorithms on Multiplex Networks
Yumi Fujita, Sho Tsugawa (Univ. Tsukuba)
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Diffusion of fake news on a social network is a major concern in our society. Therefore, several method- ologies for minimizing the diffusion of misinformation (e.g., fake news) have been proposed. Existing methodologies for minimizing misinformation diffusion are designed for a single-layer social network. In contrast, misinformation can be disseminated through several types of social ties. For instance, misinformation can be disseminated through a real world word-of-mouth network as well as through a social media network. In this paper, a network composed of several types of social ties is represented as a multilayer network, and we examine the effectiveness of existing misinformation minimization algorithms in the multilayer network. In particular, we apply the existing misinfor- mation minimization algorithms for single-layer networks to a two-layered multiplex network and examine their effectiveness.
