Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Magnetomotive Ultrasound Imaging (MMUS) is an imaging technique that uses superparamagnetic iron oxide (SPIO) nanoparticles as a contrast agent. Induction of the vibration of the labeled tissue by a low frequency oscillating magnetic field is tracked with ultrasound. This technique not only improves the visibility of detailed tumors and the like, but may also be applied flexibly in combination with other diagnostic and therapeutic means. Since the characteristic of MMUS is vibration, it is considered to be effective not only for improving the imaging sensitivity but also for evaluating the elastic properties of living tissues.
Therefore, the purpose of this study is to measure the strain of the biological phantom due to the external magnetic field and estimate the elastic properties. The present report investigated the strain estimation of phantoms with different elastic properties including magnetic nanoparticles as an initial study.
