[Poster Presentation] A Study on QoE Based Multicast Transmission Rate Control using SVC in Wireless LAN In background traffic of real environments

(in English) Multicast video distribution in wireless LANs transmits video to multiple stations (STA) simultaneously, so that the transmission rate received by each STA is the same. However, the transmission rate which the STA can receive is different by distance with the access point and propagation environment, there is a problem that the conventional multicast cannot deliver at the transmission rate suitable for all STAs. we proposed a transmission rate control scheme based on Quality of Experience (QoE) index using Scalable Video Coding (SVC) coding. The
proposed scheme divides video information into multiple layers by SVC, and allocates transmission rate corresponding to Mean Opinion Score (MOS) of QoE for each layer, to provide video quality corresponding to the distance between multicast STA and access point. In this paper, we evaluate the proposed scheme under the condition of traffic fluctuation in real environment. Since the drastic fluctuation of MOS occurred by the change of the traffic quantity,the improvement scheme which added the control which stabilized MOS to the proposal scheme wasproposed, and the evaluation was carried out again.
