It is known that probability distributions generated by quantum circuits cannot be approximately sampled by efficient classical computation unless the polynomial time hierarchy collapses. This fact is thought of as a strong witness that quantum computation cannot be simulated by efficient classical computation. In this work, we show that the above mentioned sampling requires exponential time under a variant of the strong exponential time hypothesis. The full version of the paper is available at
