Verification of input-power dependence of free-space coupling multi-core fiber devices

(in English) In a multicore fiber (MCF), which is being actively studied as a main platform of space division multiplexing (SDM) technology, there are multiple propagating cores co-existing in a single optical fiber.
A MCF-based spatially coupled optical functional device directs the multi-beams transmitted by MCF into space, works on the signal lights with some functional elements, and then recouples them back into the MCF.
During this process, a part of the signal light may leak from the MCF cores and result in the coupling loss.
These uncoupled lights from multiple cores are considered to be converted into heat in the optical device, inducing local thermal stress and thus degrading the device performance. In this paper, the relationship between coupling loss and thermal effect in a MCF-based optical functional device is investigated.
