A submarine cabled observatory "S-net" (Seafloor observation network for earthquakes and tsunamis along the Japan Trench), was recently deployed by National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience (NIED) in the Japan Trench area on the east coast of eastern Japan. Meanwhile, fin whale calls have been detected by hydrophones and seismometers in the existing submarine cabled observatories. The estimation method of the seismic velocities at the seafloor surface and the localization method of the sea surface low-frequency sound source for the purpose of whale localization, that was performed by the author in the previous study using the observed waveform of the airgun with the existing ocean bottom accelerometer off shore of Kamaishi, was examined to apply to the S-net accelerometer. |
