We have been studied on OFDM/PM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing / Phase Modulation) systems
which we think suitable for high speed satellite communications.
Since phase modulated OFDM signals have constant envelope, the signals can avoid distortion due to the nonlinear characteristics in amplitude of power amplifier used in satellite communications.
In this study, we apply DR (Dynamic Range) based SLM (SeLective Mapping) scheme to OFDM signals to be phase-modulated to reduce their DR to efficiently use the phase space of PM.
So far, there are few studies on the effect of reduced DR of OFDM signals in OFDM/PM systems on the performances of BER (Bit Error Rate) and bandwidth of the OFDM/PM signals.
SLM is a well-known as PAPR (Peak-to-Average Power Ratio) reduction scheme for OFDM systems.
In this study, we select the OFDM signals based on minimum DR criterion. |
