[Invited Lecture] OAM Mode-Multiplexing Transmission System in Millimeter-wave Band for High Capacity Backhaul

(in English) We are developing orbital angular momentum (OAM) mode-multiplexing technology to realize high capacity radio systems such as 5G small cell backhaul. This paper introduces the principle of OAM, its implementation, and the experimental results by a proto-type in E-band which has a functionality to combine OAM mode-multiplexing and polarization multiplexing using real-time signal processing. We achieved 40 m transmission of 16-multiplexed (8 OAM modes and 2 polarizations) 256QAM signal in E-band. This distance is equivalent to 100 m in D-band which is our final target.
