Dependable Downlink Route Configuration Scheme for Multi-Hop Networks Based on Receiver-Initiated MAC Protocol

(in English) Receiver-initiated Media Access Control (MAC) protocols such as the Feathery Receiver-Initiated Transmission (F-RIT) are suitable for wireless devices that require battery-powered long-term operation (e.g., gas and water smart meters). To achieve stable communication in the F-RIT-based multi-hop networks under fluctuating wireless environments, it would be effective to avoid the disturbed link. However, the source routing cannot avoid the disturbed link in downlink communication because it specifies the route uniquely. On the other hand, the polling communication is reliable because it avoids collision of communication timing. However, round trip operation (i.e., polling) requires larger delay and increases power consumption. In this report, we propose a dependable downlink route configuration scheme which enables to avoid disturbed link by utilization of multiple routes with reduction of delay and power consumption. The computer simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed scheme that reduces delay and power consumption.
