This presentation studies wireless mesh networks using drones
for emergency communication systems during large-scale
disasters. In the systems, construction of the wireless mesh networks in
the sky can keep line-of-sight (LoS) among wireless nodes, and then
covers the disaster stricken area effectively. I present flight models
that achieve small transmission delay while keeping the smaller number
of drones when the wireless mesh networks are used as backbone networks.
The flight models support autonomous operations that do not need complex
configurations. The performance is evaluated taking account of the
influence of drones' stop due to their battery exhaustion and the
inclination of flying drones. In addition, I present the relationship
between flight altitude and the communication area considering LoS
range, and the investigation of a channel model from measurement results
of received signal strength indicator (RSSI). |
