A Sequential Estimation Scheme for RSS Map Using Graph Laplacian

(in English) UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) networks such as ground-to-air and UAV-to-UAV communications have attracted a lot of attention. In order to safely operate these networks under non-visible line of sight environments, it is necessary to monitor communication qualities in the region that UAVs are flying. In this article, we propose a sequential estimation scheme for an RSS (Received Signal Strength) map in the air. In the proposed scheme, the region is divided into blocks and a UAV measures received powers at blocks (measurement points) on its route. A graph structure is dynamically constructed according to the measurement points, and the RSS map in the whole region is sequentially estimated by a least squares estimator with Graph Laplacian regularization. We evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme with simulation experiments.
