Influence of coherence length on scattering suppression by digital phase-conjugate light

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The strong scattering in biological tissue is a difficult problem for optical imaging and measurement of an animal body. For transillumination imaging of animal tissues, we have attempted to suppress the scattering effect using the time-reversal principle of phase-conjugate light. In this study, we analyzed the effect of the coherent length of a light source on the scattering suppression ability of our proposed technique. Using the light source with the longer coherence length than before, we examined the application range while changing the scattering coefficient and thickness of the scattering medium. From this result, we clarified the applicable range of the developed system and the factors that determine the applicable range.
