Electromagnetic waves incident upon a metal plate produce currents on its surface. Then the metal plate is pressed to the direction of EM wave propagation, due to Lorentz force determined by the current density and magnetic flux density of the EM waves. Einstein derived the famous formula E=mc^2 by using the electromagnetic momentum. Therefore we derived the momentum by using Lorentz contraction and discussed about the momentum of a light wave having speed of c. |
