The scapula motion during baseball pitching has yet to be analyzed thoroughly, due to the difficulty of its measurement. Then we developed a quasi-static measurement method of the scapula motion during the elevation of the upper limb in the coronal plane, using computed tomography, motion capture system and fluoroscopy. In this study, we measured several characteristic postures of the humerus during baseball pitching, using the method and a new chair equipped with a device capable of setting the posture of the upper limb. Consequently, the scapula motion could be estimated, but several humerus postures of the pitching motion reproduced on the chair were inaccurate. Its improvement should be done in the next step. |
