Angle Estimation Method in Stepped Multiple Frequency Radar with Preprocessing of Iterative Signal Subtraction and Frequency Estimation Method

(in English) It is required for automotive radar to obtain not only the target range and velocity but also angle information on the multiple target situations. However, the number of array elements is limited because the size and cost are hoped to be small and low for automotive radar. From the background, we have indicated that the angles of multiple targets existing in close angle were obtained by the simple mono-pulse angle estimation after the range estimation by MUSIC and the subsequent projection transform. We have also proposed the range estimation method of the iterative signal subtraction and frequency estimation that estimates the target range and signal subtraction iteratively in stepped multiple frequency modulation. This method is expected to obtain range estimation accuracy even in the relatively low S/N ratio situation and small number of snapshots. In this article, we propose the signal processing where the MUSIC and signal copy is replaced by the iterative signal subtraction and frequency estimation processing. The proposed method are verified by computer simulations.
