A scanning input system for Japanese text requiring no row selection
Hibiki Sakuraoka, Hiroki Mori (Utsunomiya Univ.) WIT2018-80
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Fast scanning communication interface is beneficial for physically-challenged people.
This study proposal a new matrix-based scanning input method for Japanese.
The method requires no row selection, which enables faster character input
than classic input method that requires column-row selection.
This paper shows that the proposed method provides higher efficiency of character input
than the classic method and a the ``pairwise'' scanning method proposed previously.
It also describes how to estimate output words,
and a simulation-based analysis of the accuracy of the estimation.
A software implementation of the proposed input method is also described.
