Evaluation of Beam Control Technology for High SHF Wide-band Massive MIMO using Outdoor Radio Measurement Results

(in English) Massive MIMO(Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) in 5th generation radio communication system offers high antenna gain and high data rate communication by spatial beam multiplexing. In case of narrow beam, it may happen that a UE(user equipment) goes out of a beam area due to moving of the UE during an initial access procedure and a change procedure of base stations even if a proper beam direction is detected for the UE in a measurement beforehand. In this paper, we evaluated the amount of inter-beam interference that the beam control algorithm gives to neighbor base stations. As a result, it showed that it is as low as 0.3% using 28 GHz band by the radio measurement data.
