Impact of Atmospheric and Rain Attenuation on Outage Probability in THz-Band Wireless Communication Systems

(in English) Very wide spectrum is available in THz-band for over 100Gbps ultra-broadband wireless communications, however THz-band outdoor wireless communication systems suffer not only atmospheric attenuation but also rain attenuation. Since rain and atmospheric attenuation is affected by rain and atmospheric factors such as water vapor and oxygen, outage probability needs to be evaluated for link budget design by taking account of these factors. However, there is no report about outage probability evaluation on THz-band wireless communication systems as far as the authors know. This report evaluates outage probability of sub-THz-band outdoor wireless communication systems using the weather observation data in Japan, and compares it with that of 60GHz wireless communication systems.
