Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In the previous paper, by comparing with the results in the linear filtering theory, we have introduced the notion of innovations for Viterbi decoding of convolutional codes. In this paper, we discuss a problem of extracting innovations/martingales from the input to an SST Viterbi decoder and the input to the corresponding main decoder from the viewpoint of stochastic processes. We see that increasing families of sigma-fields (i.e., filtrations) associated with the information available from knowledge of the observations play an essential role. It is shown that whether the composite of the information and related observations forms a system of Gaussian random variables is crucial to our discussion.
