Digital radio signal transmission systems utilizing the mode orthogonality generated by the orbital angular momentum (OAM) of electromagnetic waves are currently being intensively investigated. Two types of antennas are experimentally examined for the OAM wave generation: loop antennas, and uniform circular array antennas. The characteristics of the OAM waves from these antennas can be analyzed by using vector potentials in the spherical coordinate systems. The vector potential of the circular array antennas is derived in this report, which analytically clarifies the differences from the vector potential of a loop antenna that is already known. The derivation applies spatial sampling of the vector potential of the loop, which includes anti-aliasing in the wavenumber region. Several typical polarization types: scalar wave and vector wave of OAM, are also considered by introducing current density vectors explicitly represent the orientations. |
