Heart rate variability (HRV) is a marker of autonomic nervous system (ANS) activity and evaluated by observing R-R interval variations. Our previous study has proposed the "Potentials of Unbalanced Complex Kinetics" (PUCK) as a new index to evaluate the ANS activity. However, it was conducted only in the resting state (sitting, sitting, and standing positions). Therefore, in this study, we measured HRV during treadmill exercise using wearable electrocardiograph then examined whether PUCK indices represent ANS activity validly. As a result, Slope increased from supine to standing position but decreased dramatically during the running stages. SSD1 and SSD2 decreased steeply from sitting to standing position and during running stages. The increase of Slope at resting state showed similar results to our previous study. It was considered that Slope would indicate sympathetic nervous system activities, but further discussion is needed about the decrease of Slope during running stages. In contrary, the decrease of SSD 1 and SSD 2 from standing to sitting position and running stages also showed similar results to our previous study. It is considered that SSD1 and SSD2 would indicate parasympathetic nervous system activities. Therefore, it is suggested that the PUCK indices can be used as markers of cardiac autonomic nervous system activity. |
