Estimation of entropy generation rate from chaotic time series in semiconductor lasers

(in English) ($varepsilon,tau$) entropy has been proposed as a method to calculate the entropy generation rate (unpredictability) of chaotic time series. In the study, we estimate entropy generation rate for time series of fast chaotic oscillation generated in a semiconductor laser in numerical calculation. We calculate entropy rate by changing the laser parameter and compare it with the Komogorov-Sinai (KS) entropy. We found correlation between ($varepsilon,tau$) entropy and KS entropy. This result suggests that evaluation using ($varepsilon,tau$) entropy for chaotic time series is effective.
