Design of Quasi-Millimeter-Wave SIW Bandpass Filter with Transmission Zeros Using TE102 Mode for Negative Coupling

(in English) A quasi-millimeter-wave band substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) bandpass filter with a fractional bandwidth greater than 10% is proposed in this paper to realize high skirt selectivity because of transmission zeros. An SIW resonator has a relatively high unloaded Q factor, but the attenuation at stopbands is degraded by both a strong coupling required for fractional bandwidth of 10% and an intrinsic highpass response of SIW. Thus, transmission zeros need to be generated at passband edges, but in a conventional approach the radiation loss occurs when a slot structure is employed for negative coupling. In the proposed SIW filter, a box-coupling configuration is introduced, which is simply realized with even-mode resonance of TE101 mode and odd-mode one of TE102 mode. The effectiveness of the proposed filter configuration is verified through design, fabrication, and measurement of a fourth-order SIW filter. To enhance the attenuation level at upper stopband, furthermore, we design a sixth-order SIW filter having two transmission zeros at an upper passband edge, of which the validity is also shown by numerical evaluations using EM simulator.
