Measured Performance of Double Layer Planar Array Antenna Composed of 2x2 Slot Sub-array on Cavity Narrow Wall Feb by E-plane Waveguide

(in English) Millimeter-wave technologies have been expected for applications to wireless entrance systems, communication systems between base stations and 5G mobile communication systems. Wide bandwidth is necessary for communication systems which require a large transmission capacity. Therefore, a parallel-feeding waveguide slot array antenna satisfying simultaneously high gain, high efficiency, and wide bandwidth property is in the development by configuration suitable for cost reduction. The antenna is fabricated by assembling plastic molding parts with metal plating fixed by same screws, we designed a double layer waveguide plane array antenna at 73.5 GHz with an E - plane parallel feeding circuit in the lower layer and the narrow wall radiation slot on the cavity in the upper layer. By simulation, we obtained the gain higher than 29dBi at 19GHz and the gain 30.6dBi at designing frequency. In addition, over the measured gain higher than 29dBi was 16.5GHz, the gain was 30.1 dBi at the design frequency. The result equivalent to the simulation result was obtained also in the real machine production similar level with simulated gain was obtained by measurement of the antenna fabricated by plastic molding.
