Compliance assessment with coupling factor for leaked magnetic field exposure from wireless power transfer in electric vehicle

(in English) There exists public concern about potential adverse health effect caused by the electromagnetic fields. International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection(ICNIRP) have published the human protection guidelines from electromagnetic fields. However, allowable external field strength named reference level in the ICNIRP guideline is derived assuming that the electromagnetic field is uniform, and there may give an over-conservative evaluation in non-uniform electromagnetic environments. Therefore, as a method of conducting appropriate safety evaluation even in a non-uniform electromagnetic environment, the coupling factor, which is the relation between the induced electric field in the body and the external magnetic field, has been prescribed in an IEC document. In this study, we computationally derived the coupling factor of the human body due to the leaked magnetic field from the wireless power transmission system when the body material of electric vehicle is CFRP (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastics), aluminum, iron. As a result, the coupling factor of iron and aluminum were shown to be comparable to each other, whereas the value of CFRP was lower than those of the remaining materials.
