The failure process under representative maintenance activities, which are replacement or minimal repair for a repairable system, can be described by an non-homogeneous Poisson process (NHPP) or a renewal process (RP) that are fundamental stochastic point processes. On the other hand, trend renewal process (TRP) completely includes NHPP and RP as special cases and can be used to represent the failure occurrence phenomena under more generalized maintenance action. In this paper we aim to derive the optimal periodic replacement policy under a kind of generalized repair action for a trend renewal failure process. In detail, we derive an analytical solution for the optimal periodic replacement problem by clarifying the mean value of trend renewal process, and consider effects of two parameters which characterize the trend renewal process on the optimal solution. |
