Ultrasonic welding of dissimilar metals using planar vibration -- In the case of changing size and installation direction of the welding sample --

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Since ultrasonic welding does not use heat, welding of dissimilar metals having different melting points can be easily performed. However, conventional ultrasonic welding uses one-dimensional linear vibration, which has low vibration energy because of small vibration energy and has a problem that it is difficult to weld depending on the size and installation direction of the welding sample. Therefore, the authors have proposed ultrasonic welding using two-dimensional planar vibration. In this paper, when changing the size and installation direction of the welding sample, the aluminum plate and the copper plate were welded using planar vibration. As the results, it was found that stable welding can be performed without depending on the size and installation direction of the welding sample, compared with the case using linear vibration.
