An Experiment of Drone Control and Sensor Data Transmission using 920MHz Multi-hop Wireless Communication System

(in English) Robots and unmanned aerial vehicles (such as drone) are actively researched and developed aiming at application to disaster response and infrastructure inspection etc. in Japan. In the case of controlling and monitoring these robots, 2.4 GHz band wireless is often adopted due to cost and device availability. However, 2.4GHz band wireless is not suitable for robot remote control due to narrow radio wave reach range or interference problem. Therefore, in this research, we are aiming to construct a wireless network specialized for remote control such as robots and drones for high reliability wireless communication technology and multi-hop network technology for robotic society. In this paper, we consider the communication quality characteristics and the radio wave propagation characteristics through drone remote control and sensor data transmission experiment using 920 MHz multi-hop wireless communication.
