| (in English) | Classification of objects into man-made objects and nature-made objects is important for accurate recognition of objects in natural images. We studied classification using ICA (Independent Component Analysis) and neural network in the present study. For classification, an image is divided into image blocks (block of pixels). ICA is useful for classification since it is able to catch geometrical features of man-made objects. ICA bases were computed from blocks of man-made objects and image blocks of nature-made objects. An image blocks is reconstructed by linear combination of ICA bases. Weights of coefficients were used to reconstruct image blocks from ICA bases as feature for classification. For image blocks of man-made objects, weights of coefficients were computed by using both ICA bases obtained from man-made objects and ICA bases obtained from nature-made objects. These weight of coefficients were learned by a neural network. In the same manner, for image blocks of nature-made objects, weights of coefficients were also learned by the neural network. We also prepare image blocks for the test. We carried out classification experiments using natural images in which there were both man-made objects and nature-made objects. The ground truth was made by visual inspection. As a result of experiment, classification accuracy was more than 90%. | |
