[Poster Presentation] Quantum Metrology in the Presence of Unknown Background Parameters

(in English) We discuss quantum metrology in the presence of some background. We treat the parameters characterizing the background as unknown parameters, and evaluate the precision of the estimation of a target parameter in the framework for multiparameter estimation. As simple examples, we consider typical phase estimation problems: the estimation of a precession angle of a quantum spin and the estimation of an optical phase shift. While the presence of some background might hinder us from estimating the target parameter, we try to circumvent the difficulty by employing a "blank test" to probe only the background parameters. Moreover, we show that entanglement between the probe for the target and the probe for the reference can enhance the precision of the estimation of the target parameter.
