[Invited Lecture] Ray trace analysis of compact cubic arrangement Massive MIMO antenna

(in English) In recent years, with the spread of smartphones and tablets, the amount of data traffic continues to increase even for wireless communication. The massive MIMO (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) technology is actively reported recently because the frequency resource needs to be efficiently used. In this report, we propose a new antenna configuration where the size of the base station antenna is significantly reduced by use of cubic antenna arrangement and orthogonal polarizations, which is suitable for the indoor environment. The ray trace analysis is carried out for investigating the capacity when the proposed base station antenna is used in an indoor environment. BD (Block diagonalization) method is used to evaluate multiuser performance. As a result, we found that the cubic antenna improves the multiuser channel capacity by 22 bits/s/Hz and 8 bits/s/Hz from the planar and the linear antennas respectively when the number of users is 7.
