The 5th Generation (5G) radio access network will introduce Massive MIMO technology at higher frequency bands with wider bandwidth and Massive MIMO technology for realizing super high bit rate. As a practical method of multi-user Massive MIMO at such higher frequency bands, joint processing of fixed analog beamforming and channel state information-based precoding (FBCP) has been studied. In the multi-user Massive MIMO, a user selection algorithm for spatial multiplexing is important to avoid inter-user interference. On the other hand, computational complexity of the user selection algorithm becomes prohibitively high when the number of antenna elements increases. To lower the complexity, 2-step user selection algorithm based on chordal distance user selection (CDUS) has been proposed. However, the user selection algorithm could not take into account user fairness. Therefore, this report proposes user selection algorithm to achieve both the high system capacity and user fairness. The proposed method firstly selects users based on proportional fairness metric using the latest throughput when the users were selected in the scheduling. Then CDUS is applied to the firstly selected users as the second step of user selection. Computer simulations for multi-user Massive MIMO verify that the proposed algorithm can achieve user fairness and high throughput performance. |
