Performance Evaluation of Low-SHF-Band Digital Beamforming in High-Mobility Experimental Trial

(in English) The fifth-generation (5G) mobile communication system utilizes Massive MIMO using many number of antenna elements in high frequency bands to compensate for radio propagation loss and multiple several user equipment by beamforming (BF). Although various frequency bands are candidate for 5G, this paper focuses low SHF band (3-6 GHz). When we assume 5G commercial services, high-mobility experimental trials should be performed. However, in low SHF band, those performance has not been clarified by experimental trials. Therefore, this paper carried out outdoor experimental trial at a user’s maximum speed of 120 km per hour by fully digital Massive MIMO equipment using 4.65 GHz band. As a result, this paper shows that user can achieve maximum user throughput by fully digital Massive MIMO even if user moves at 120 km per hour.
