Design of Multi-layer Transmit-phased-array with Varactor Diodes Using Matrix Calculation for Two-dimensional Beam-scanning

(in English) For automotive-radars and next generation mobile communicators, two-dimensional beam scanning systems are required. Various transmit-arrays equiped in front of an aperture antenna are developed to form the beam toward arbitrary angle. Transmit-array is composed of metal planar periodic pattern and dielctric plate. Multi layer is necessary to achieve 360 deg. phase rotation. Transmission phase distribution is controlled by systhesis of reflections and transmittions of all layers. By mounting varactor diodes on the metal patterns and varying reverse bias voltage, transmission phase of each cell are controlled indipendently and beam of transmission wave of transmit-array can be scaned over wide angle. It is difficult to design considering return loss by capasitance variation for desired phase distribution. In this paper, transmit-array with low reflection was designed by matrix calculation of its equivalent circuit. A 5x5 array was designed at 79GHz.
