Design of Undesired-resonance Exclusion of a Degeneration-separated Hexagonal-cross-section Waveguide Circularly Polarized Aperture Antenna

(in English) The corporate-feed waveguide slot array antenna is a high-efficiency and wide-band antenna in the millimeter-wave band. A circular-polarization radiating part for this antenna was designed by HFSS previously. The authors proposed a fast analysis method for the radiating part by the method for moments, and a design with Genetic Algorithm. The design of the 2x2-element sub-array was improved to 14.6% bandwidth for reflection less than -14dB and axial ratio lower than 3 dB. However, the directivity gain of this radiating part locally was decreased around 61.18GHz in the designed band (57-66GHz). In this paper, the authors find the reason that the incident wave couples with TM111-mode resonance in a cavity with the radiating aperture and TM11-mode is excited on the radiating aperture at 61.18GHz. The authors propose the design method to shift the resonant frequency out of the band in order without reducing the directivity of this radiating part. The axial ratio is suppressed below 3.35dB in the band.
