[Invited Lecture] Channel Capacity of Massive MIMO in Fading Environments with Spatial Correlation

(in English) In space diversity, the spatial fading correlation between two adjacent branches of an array antenna leads to degradation of transmission characteristics. On the other hand, the antenna with large spread in the space such as Massive MIMO, from a nature of the asymptotic eigenvalue distribution of the random matrix, the channel capacity becomes larger than that in the uncorrelated case depending on the transmission method. We introduce this seemingly strange behavior and consider the information transmission capability of Massive MIMO from the relation of array element spacing, array size and angular spread of path directions.
