Proposal of bus location system with LPWA

(in English) With the bus location system, anxiety about commutation bus arrival can be eliminated. It is realized by installing GPS receivers on the busses and informing the user of the current bus position. For the purpose of reducing the running costs, adapting LPWA such as Wi-SUN, LoRa instead of 3G for transmitting GPS data from a bus has been proposed. Although LoRa is considered optimal from the viewpoint of transmission distance, there are some problems such as limitations in the payload size, degradation of transmission characteristics by buildings in urban areas and so on. In this paper, proposal of GPS data compression method which is applied to the bus location system with LoRa is reported. With the proposed method, bus locations were captured correctly on whole route of the central route of the Committee "Noneti" in Nonoichi City, Ishikawa Prefecture. In this validation, bus location information were collected by LoRa gateway installed at the library center of Kanazawa Institute of Technology.
