A Study of Transmission Performance Improvement of QAM Single-Carrier Optical Wireless Communications

(in English) Current optical wireless communications systems use intensity modulation / direct detection (IM/DD), thus the baseband signal must be real and positive. The asymmetrically clipped optical single carrier frequency domain equalizing (ACO-SCFDE) uses the asymmetrically clipped optical OFDM (ACO-OFDM) structure in a single carrier form. In the ACO-SCFDE, a real and unipolar baseband signal can be generated by arranging only odd frequency components with Hermitian symmetry in the frequency domain. In this paper, we report the transmission performance improvement results obtained from applying a frequency-domain adaptive filter to the quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) ACO-SCFDE.
