[Poster Presentation] Geo-social Relaying in Device-to-device Communications

(in English) Device-to-device (D2D) communications is used to communicate between mobile nodes in vicinity. A mobile node having D2D communication may sometimes experience poor quality of service and eventually could get disconnected. In such situations, mobile node may be deployed as a relay so that the communication quality can be improved or can be continued without interruption. Generally, mobile nodes are reluctant to relay data for other nodes because battery of the node is drained while relaying data. However, nodes that have strong relationship show willingness to deplete its power most of the time. This suggests that social relationship strength (social trust) among nodes as well as location of nodes should be taken under consideration in order to select a relay. The proposed Social-aware Midpoint Relay Selection Scheme provides higher throughput compared to Hybrid Relay Selection Scheme by Pan and Wang.
