| (in English) | LFG is a constraint-based grammatical framework, in which distinct structures are organised in a parallel fashion. In addition to structures traditionally postulated in the framework such as c-structure, f-structure and s-structure, there are some attempts to formulated information structure where topic and focus configurations are encoded. The current paper highlights so-called Person Constraint, the restrictions of person feature combinations between a recipient argument and a theme argument in ditransitive constructions. Although the constraint has often been given syntax-based accounts in the literature, we show that the constraint is most naturally accounted for by relative topicality of arguments and argue that LFG's information structure gives a unified account for the phenomenon. | |
