Performance evaluation of spectrally-synthesized coherent reception for constellation monitoring of pseudo random quadrature phase shift keying optical signals

(in English) In our proposed spectrally-synthesized coherent reception for measuring constellation maps of periodical optical signals, optical spectral waveform is sliced into multiple narrow band components, which can be measured by a coherent receiver even with low-speed photodiodes and analog-to-digital convertors. By making spectral overlap between the neighborhood sliced components, spectral synthesis is possible by the digital signal processing to compensate for fluctuation of phase, frequency, and temporal delay between the measured sliced components. In this paper, we evaluate the performance of the spectrally-synthesized coherent reception for monitoring the constellation map of pseudo random quadrature phase shift keying optical signals. We calculate dependence on the number of spectrally-sliced components and the overlap bandwidth in order to evaluate the required receiver bandwidth. In addition, we numerically investigate dependence on the spectral linewidth of signals and local oscillator in our measurement, and then evaluate acceptable period of the pseudo random optical signals
