A TCP Method Based on Predicting Queue Empty at Cellular Base Stations

(in English) Carrier aggregation (CA) is a key technology to increase bandwidth since LTE Advanced. However, transport layer protocols such as TCP cannot utilize the full performance of CA, because it control sending rates independently regardless of LTE transmission status. As a result, control mismatch between TCP and LTE network causes sending queue empty at base stations. In this paper, we proposed a method to predict the time of sending queue empty, then send additional data to the base station before sending queue becomes empty based on prediction result. We demonstrated that our method increased average throughput via evaluations by a commercial LTE network.
