[Invited Lecture] Analysis on the Performance of Adaptive PAPR Reduction Method Using Null Space in MIMO Channel for Massive MIMO-OFDM Signals

(in English) This paper analyzes the impact of the applied beamforming (BF) method on the performance of our previously reported adaptive peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) reduction method using the null space in multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channel for MIMO-orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signals. The adaptive PAPR reduction method using null space in MIMO channel can mitigate the data throughput degradation due to the interference from the PAPR reduction signal generated by the clipping and filtering (CF) algorithm, by restricting the transmission of PAPR reduction signal only to the null space in MIMO channel. Our previous investigation quantitatively revealed that the effect of the proposed PAPR reduction method is large when eigenmode MIMO is used as BF method compared to the case where zero forcing (ZF)-based BF is applied. Furthermore, the use of frequency-selective BF, where different BF matrices are applied to different frequency blocks, increases the performance gain of the proposed PAPR reduction method. This paper investigated several reasons for these phenomena, and discuss appropriate BF strategy to enhance the effect of the adaptive PAPR reduction method using null space in MIMO channel.
